Music Industry 101
A Church Street Studio Seminar
A full day intensive music industry primer for people keen to learn more about the various career paths in the music industry.

Hosted by Church Street Studios and presented by three leaders in their field, these are not one-way lectures, but rather open and honest sharing of industry insights. experience and knowledge.
Covering an extremely wide range of subjects, the day is the perfect music industry primer and is most suitable for young musicians, composers and early career professionals, keen for some well grounded, frank industry perspectives to broaden their own knowledge, inspire their creativity and help discover their own professional musical path.
The sessions take place over one full day at Church Street Studios.

Caitlin Yeo is the President of the Australian Guild of Screen Composers and a highly acclaimed, multi-award winning Australian Screen composer who’s compositional style emerges from a fascination with music from different cultures, 20th century composition, and a deep love of telling stories with music.
​
Caitlin has recently scored the music for upcoming feature films Standing Up for Sunny, (starring RJ Mitte), Kriv Stender’s Danger Close: The Battle of Long Tan, and feature documentary Sanctuary (Bunya Films).
Caitlin has also scored multiple feature films, including critically acclaimed The Rocket, cult classic All My Friends are Leaving Brisbane and The Butterfly Tree.

Caitlin Yeo has received a swathe of accolades including five APRA screen music awards; The Butterfly Tree in 2018 (Feature Score of the Year and Best soundtrack Album) ; Feature Score of the Year for The Rocket (2013), and Best Music for a documentary for Getting Frank Gehry (2016) and Bomb Harvest (2007), 3 x AACTA nominations, a 2017 Ozflix Award for best music, and the 2014 Film Critics Circle award. In 2011, Caitlin was also awarded the APRA Professional Development Award, which garnered her a spot at the prestigious ASCAP Film and TV Scoring Workshop in Los Angeles. More info

Michelle Barry is a professional producer/sound engineer/educator with over 20 years’ experience in audio production.
​
She has a Masters in Creative Industries and has lectured at SAE, TAFE NSW and JMC.
​
Starting out as a music fan and teenage synth geek she went on to work at Paradise Studio, Sydney in 1990. Since then working in studios near and far such as Trackdown, Sony Music Studios, Alberts, ABC Radio, Marcus Studio - London and Times Square Recording, Cowboy Technical Services, Sear Sound - NYC. Along the way, she has had the opportunity to learn along the way from amazing producers such as Dave Steward, Youth, Wayne Connolly, Mike Stavro, Roger Greenawalt, Rob Mathes, Russell Simins.
Having worked in a variety of studios large and small Michelle aims to create a creative, comfortable environment and provide quality affordable solutions for independent musicians and industry alike. Using her listening skills to enhance the song and hear the artist.

Kim Green is one of Australia’s leading freelance Music Supervisors.
​
Having started her career in the 1980’s working for record and music publishing companies such as Festival Records, MCA Music, RCA Records and PolyGram Music, Kim has long term experience and broad insight into the business side of the music industry, specifically with publishing and labels.
In the early 2000’s, Kim began an independent music licensing consultancy. Drawing on skills and networks fostered from her decades in the Australian music industry, Kim offers expert music licensing and supervision services to creative clients in film, theatre and television worldwide.

She rarely given lectures so this is a unique experience.
​
