A rare chance to hear fascinating chamber works for baryton by Joseph Haydn, performed with their intended instrumentation.  The baryton, an instrument similar to a bass viol but with an extra course of metal sympathetic strings, was an 18th-century instrument favoured by Haydn's longtime employer, Prince Nikolaus Esterhazy.  Haydn composed over 130 works for it.  These delightful works are full of invention, wit and colour, with the unique combination of low instruments creating unique and beautiful sonority.   MORE INFO HERE.   YOUTUBE CLIP of the BARYTON

"Friends and Strangers" are actually all friends, sometimes playing to strangers who inevitably soon become friends. This group is made up of some of the finest musicians in Sydney, and play with a sense of joy and exuberance which is rarely seen. This is outward looking music. It's for you, and it's REAL (no A.I. involved) and filled with interaction with each other and you, the audience. The music we play is by Bill Risby, Pat Metheny, Fourplay, A.C. Jobim, Marcus Miller and others. Interesting fact: We all sit down to play...

‘If you can make sound tell a story it becomes music, and were Daniel Weltlinger not a musician, he would still be a storyteller...he uses notes the way a supremely elegant writer – say, Austen or Orwell – uses words, so the sounds, rhythms and sentence constructions dovetail with the meaning so perfectly that the reader's eye dances effortlessly along each line.’ John Shand – Sydney Morning Herald. Violinist, composer and producer Daniel Weltlinger (Lulo Reinhardt, Karsten Troyke, Monsieur Camembert) will present a unique program mixing Gypsy-swing, French Musette, Yiddish Chanson, and original compositions featuring Eddie Bronson on horns and accordion, Cameron Jones and Austin Megier on guitars and Stan Valacos on double bass plus special guest singers Nadya Golski and Evelyne Weltlinger.
